About
About the house
House of Jars is a calm dorm hostel in Ban Anou, in Chanthabouly District, central Vientiane: two floors of pod beds, with a café downstairs.
Owned and run by Nang
Nang owns and runs the house, with a team on site day and night. Guests write about the care that goes into it: how clean it is, the comfortable beds, the breakfast and the quick replies.
Why House of Jars
The name nods to the Plain of Jars, the fields of ancient stone jars in Xieng Khouang province.
The Plain of Jars in Xieng Khouang province holds thousands of Iron Age stone jars. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2019.
Our mark is drawn after those jars: squat and heavy, its thick rim carved from the same stone, with one carved line.
The team
The team is on site 24 hours and speaks English, Lao and Thai. Staff can arrange transport, including from the airport. They are known for replying to messages quickly.
Shadow, the AI concierge
Shadow is the friendly ghost butler who answers questions on this website. He is an AI, not a member of staff: he answers from what the house has published, can pass your message to the team, and can be wrong. For anything important, the team is a message away.
